About

The Duo

Miles + Molly: We’re siblings who grew up in coastal Kennebunk, Maine. We’ve spent years studying ceramics, mold making, and furniture design all over the country, including at the Penland School of Crafts in the Blue Ridge Mountains; Guilford College; Oregon College of Art and Craft; Montana State University; and the Maine College of Art. Our exposure to art and design, and much of our influence, came from our parents: our mother was a production potter, and our father is a lifelong furniture designer and builder. Two years ago, we decided to convert the upstairs of our father’s furniture shop into the design and build studio we work out of today. Come and visit us in Kennebunk!

The Company

Spadone Home is an evocative handmade collection of Memphis inspired ceramic tableware, Bauhaus and Art Deco influenced terrazzo vessels, and Brutalist style concrete planters and bookends. Such influence can be attested to their father, a furniture designer and falconer, and mother a world traveler. They grew up amongst an unlikely collection of Middle Eastern art, perched falcons on persian rugs, and a furniture studio filled with Post-Modern design and exotic materials harkening to the Art Deco period. Spadone Home works closely with interior designers and sells the collection in select museum and retail stores throughout the country.

The Process / The Handmade

Everything we sell is hand crafted. What we don't make in house, we collaborate on with New England-based artists and craftspeople. We design and build fluently in clay, gypsum, wood, and plastics, taking inspiration from art and design history.

Because we create each object by hand, they take slightly longer to produce and process than they would if you bought them at a normal retail store.

In addition, please know there is slight variation in everything we make. For care instructions about clay please read the product descriptions on the product pages.
