New York Design Week

New York Design Week

New York Design Week. Our friend Edward Hogikyan launched NYCXDESIGN in 2012 and has nurtured it to what it is now: an expose in high design and concept within the worlds capital for art and design. Not to get too nostalgic or anything, but it was last year this week Miles and I began our collaborative business, Spadone Home. I can't think of a better way to celebrate and mark our growth than to exhibit work at the Sightunseen OFFSITE show in SoHo.

This year's show, curated by Sightunseen cofounders-Jill Singer and Monica Khemsurov, was a bit different than the previous three editions. It was an intimate show with only 25 exhibitors and one curated group show. We were invited to show work in the OFFSITE SELECTS show featuring 20 designers, curated by another Maine native, Asa Pingree. Miles and I designed three new, larger, and bolder solid surface vessels; studies in architecture as form and function.

Our work was alongside designers and makers we have admired for years and designers we are newly obsessed with. Being part of such a collaborative and unified effort of makers and designers continues to elevate our work as well as others.

With that being said, we are feeling inspired after another amazing NY design week! Keep reading to see some of the designers we love and admire.
